Name: Mark Ikechi Nwosu Osonwanne (Engr, Chief, Sir)

Qualifications:

  • B.Sc. (Electrical/Electronics Engineering), University of Nigeria, Nsukka. 1977.
  • Registered with the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria, COREN. 1983.
  • Member Nigerian Society of Engineers, MNSE. 1985.
  • Member Society of Petroleum Engineers.

Expertise:
He has over 30 years experience in Electric Power as well as Oil and Gas in various capacities of facilities engineering, production engineering and maintenance, viz.

  • Oil & gas field equipment maintenance.
  • Oil & gas facilities construction, commissioning and production operations.
  • Power plant construction and maintenance.
  • Utilities maintenance.

Background:
He commenced his 28 years Shell Petroleum Development Company of Nigeria Ltd (SPDC) career in the Electrical Engineering Maintenance Operations function. With time he grew to take on overall management of oil field districts, including the Production and Maintenance activities therein. He developed into leading teams responsible for Mechanical (rotating and static equipment), Electrical and Instrumentation as well as Inspection Engineering and Condition Monitoring. He wrapped up his SPDC career in the role of leading the Commissioning Team, over the last 2½ years, responsible for the overall operability, reliability and technical integrity of the Bonny Terminal Integrated Project (BTIP) facilities with respect to Process, Electrical, Mechanical and Instrumentation Engineering.

Prior to joining Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC) of Nigeria Ltd. he worked for 2 years as System Control Engineer, National Control Centre – National Grid, Oshogbo Ogun State. He later joined the project team for the 120 MW Sapele Thermal Power Station, Ogorede Delta State, under Nigeria’s National Electrical Power Authority.

Responsibilities

  • Managed a multi-discipline technical team and Maintenance capability, including Workshop facilities, to support existing and new production assets.
  • Supervise the efforts of new graduate engineers towards ensuring that individual work programmes and priorities are co-ordinated to yield measurable contribution to business goals.
  • Provide technical expertise and services to the Production and Services Directorates in the areas of Mechanical (rotating and static equipment), Electrical and Instrumentation as well as Inspection Engineering and Condition Monitoring.
  • Provide technical (mechanical/electrical/instrument) services in the Central Workshop.
  • Develop and implement a “Centre of Hands-on Excellence” for the final technical training of Shell Intensive Training Programme (SITP); technicians/graduates, and provide refresher training for inexperienced field staff to improve the execution of first line maintenance.
  • Provide coaching on implementation and maintenance of standards in Field Logistic Base workshops.
  • Provide Maintenance input to specifications, engineering and commissioning phase of major projects.
