This course is meant for fresh high school leavers without previous knowledge of welding. The module will cover metals of fabrication/construction, their special properties and characteristics which make them suitable for particular services or applications. Types of steel including alloy steels, effects of heat treatment on steels, corrosion of metals, strength of materials.
Safety in welding, sources of accidents, recognition of hazards, strict adherence of safety rules and procedures. Safe handling of welding equipments, gadgets and protective equipments. Grounding procedures for equipment, amperage settings. Safety in grinding and cutting. Welding equipments and accessories, proper selection and storage of electrodes, hands-on training in shielded metal arc welding for mild steel including striking, tacking, stringer beads, fillets and basic position processes. At the end of the successful completion of the course, the student would have gained a minimum level of knowledge and skill to safely perform basic non structural mild steel arc welding. A Benek School of Welding Certificate of completion will be awarded to the participant. |
