BENEK SCHOOL OF WELDING & ALLIED TECHNOLOGY

Benek Engineering Company Limited (www.benekengineering.com), the parent company of Benek School of Welding and Allied Technology is an engineering services company based in Port Harcourt, with fabrication and training workshops. We are into engineering services in the oil and gas sector and are major contractors to SHELL, ELF, MOBIL, AGIP, CHEVRON, etc. We are also into capacity building.

In our effort to participate in the capacity development initiative of the Nigerian Local Content Development Policy in the Oil and Gas Sector, we have set up a Welding & Allied Technology Training Complex in partnership with Pagoda Engineering Services Limited: Benek School of Welding and Allied Technology which was officially commissioned on the 18 th of April, 2008.

It should be noted that all nations’ industrialization starts from manpower development and manpower development and training is recognized worldwide as a route of better efficiency and profitability. This ideology is what spurred the establishment of Benek School of Welding and Allied Technology.

By establishing this School, we are whole-heartedly supporting the Federal Government’s Nigerian Content (NC) Initiative which is defined as: the quantum of composite value added to, or created in, the Nigerian economy through a deliberate utilization of Nigerian human and material resources and services in the exploration, development, exploitation, transportation and sale of Nigerian products, so as to stimulate the development of indigenous companies, and encourage foreign investment and participation, without compromising quality, health, safety and environmental standards.

This School will train the required industrial manpower required for the immediate industrialization of the South-South region of Nigeria and Nigeria at large. The Benek School of Welding & Allied Technology Initiative is designed to prepare students to join a valuable and respected section of the national workforce for which there is a constant and increasing demand. As Nigeria Oil & Gas Industry expands, its requirement for a skilled and competent workforce in the Oil and Gas construction and maintenance sectors becomes more urgent. To this end, Benek Engineering is pleased to make a valuable contribution to the people of Port Harcourt and contract workers with the construction and administration of a Welding & Allied Technology Institute designed to eliminate the time wasting and inefficient traditions of a formal apprenticeship. We have Nigeria Institute of Welding and International Technical Support, so that our welders can acquire international certification on graduation. This certification will accord an international welder’s status which would in turn qualify our welders to work anywhere in the world.

Our complex has 200 new welding machines including Lincoln Electric Shield-Arc SAE-400 Welding Machines, Track Welding Machine, Electric Transformers, Argon Welding Machines, Assorted Cutting Sets, Milling Machines, Lathe Machines, etc. Our lecture hall is fitted with modern teaching aids and communication equipment. It has the capacity for 120 students in a shift.

The Benek School of Welding & Allied Technology is our modest contribution in fast-tracking the Nigerian Content Vision of the Federal Government and the desires of the Niger Delta people concerning manpower development and utilization.
